HAIR & MAKE UP ARTIST
JOB TITLE: Hair & Make Up Artist
DURATION: 2 weeks, Easter 2014 (TBC)
BRIEF: After the making of a successful pilot episode in 2013, Staff Room has received a ten episode order and will film later this year on location in Manchester for two weeks. Co-written by Adam Brown and Ryan McDermott the show will also be directed by BBC 3 Funny Hunt award winner Ryan McDermott for Wildseed Studios. The show will be released exclusively online in what is set to be one of the biggest and most anticipated sitcoms to ever debut online.
We are seeking an individual with a wealth of professional credits in TV & Film to head up the department. You’ll be working alone on a small cast and although demanding it will be extremely rewarding as the role will be yours to define and make your own.
As the sole make-up artist you will be responsible for creating the natural look required for the show. You may also be required to apply special effects make up such as bald caps and bruises.
You’ll be required to get involved early and work on the upcoming test shoot in March. You’ll work closely alongside the director to create each look and also liaise with the actors on their thoughts for their character.

- Researching and designing make-up and hairstyles to suit the job
- Working to production designers’ notes and instructions
- Tidying and styling hair
- Completely changing a person’s look with special effects make-up
- Taking notes and photos for reference so you can keep the look throughout filming
- Standing by on set to redo make-up and hair
- Removing make-up and keeping wigs and hairpieces in good condition.
