JOB TITLE: Editor
DURATION: 4 weeks, Easter 2014 (TBC)
BRIEF: After the making of a successful pilot episode in 2013, Staff Room has received a ten episode order and will film later this year on location in Manchester for two weeks. Co-written by Adam Brown and Ryan McDermott the show will also be directed by BBC 3 Funny Hunt award winner Ryan McDermott for Wildseed Studios. The show will be released exclusively online in what is set to be one of the biggest and most anticipated sitcoms to ever debut online.
We require an editor who is fast but meticulous in what they do. In what is set to be an intense yet rewarding role, you’ll be at first based on the set editing scenes as they come in. Ideally assembling rough edits of the day’s footage so the director and producers can then review the assembly the next day.
We are seeking somebody with a wealth of experience, ideally within sitcoms would be preferable but is not essential. We’re looking for an eye-catching showreel and industry experience.
You’ll be required to edit the upcoming test shoot which is taking place in March and work with the director on finding the style of the show early on, so that production can move swift.
Once filming concludes you’ll then continue to work with the director and the producers to deliver a finished cut and preferably stay on to oversee the sound-mix and the grade.
We’re looking for a real team player, somebody with lots of passion and enthusiasm who can bring a distinct style to the show.
Duties will include:
- Finding out about the needs of the project from the director
- Transferring film or video footage to computer
- Examining the footage and deciding which shots to keep and which to cut out
- Keeping a clear idea of the storyline, even though you may be editing scenes out of sequence
- Creating a ‘rough cut’ from the chosen material
- Putting all the elements together, in order, for the final version
- Uploading the finished files.
